I am a scientist with over 8 years of experience in research and engineering deep tech products. My background is in Computer Science and Engineering. I got my Bachelor’s degree from Anna University, India and my PhD from National University of Singapore, both degrees in Computer Science. During PhD, I worked on building computational, probabilistic models of dynamical systems (applied to complex biomedical and engineering systems), analyzing their dynamics using statistical methods and machine learning.
By the time I was wrapping up my PhD, I was already selected into the fellowship programme at Entrepreneur First, awarded to top 40 technologists in 2017. The startup accelerator programme, backed by the Singapore Government gave me the perfect launchpad to venture into commercializing my ideas from research. Based on hours of interactions with leading medical practioners from public and private hospitals (interventional radiologists from Changi General Hospital, National Cancer Center Singapore to name a few), heads of large private diagnostic centers and venture partners, I developed an end-to-end automated screening solution for radiographs using machine learning. This lead to my getting recruited to my current role where I lead the data science efforts for SBX Corporation & SBI, Tokyo in industrial domains including, but not limited to healthcare, pharma, mobility and industry 4.0.
Between my undergraduate and PhD studies, I worked as a data analyst in Cognizant for 2 years. The experience of working in a large corporation for their banking & insurance clients taught me how to solve problems at scale. Together with a team of 4 people, I built enterprise data warehouses and executive dashboards for a Fortune 500 financial services group in the UK. At that time, among other side projects, I had devised a proof of concept for a sentiment analysis tool from Twitter feed. I was awarded the Idea Champion title in 2011.
Passionate about conceiving, designing, developing machine learning pipelines and productizing them, I get my drive from creating experiences that impact lives of people at scale.
